Split Rock
Feb 10 2012

Construction started this week on a crutial new link trail on Mt Buller.

Split Rock, is a short yet important link, which helps stitch together the skills park with the Gang Gangs trail. Simultaneously, construction on the new, long awaited Gang Gangs climb past the Sewerage Treatment plant is also being constructed.

Both trails should be open by late February, showcasing some of the rare southern facing ridges near the village.

Surf Coast Walk
Feb 10 2012

Work continues on the Southern Coast Walk, with the Koori walk into Point Addis nearing completion of a much needed facelift.

Our Surf crew had to remove 100+ old tired wooden steps and insert a more natural, earthy alternative of limestone stepping stones. Spectacular weather followed the crew along the beautiful coastal veiws, even the local reptiles approve of the new scenery the trail was taking.

AMB Ride and Rate Copperhead
Jan 17 2012

The latest issue of Australian Mountain Biking magazine is out and has a huge multi-page spread on World Trail's latest creation at Mt Buller, Copperhead. The screen grabs above give you a bit of a teaser, but for the full story pick up a copy from your local newsagent.

The AMB boys also had some fun with the cameras, convincing Mick Ross to do a few runs on film. They've put together a slick movie clip which can be viewed here.

Mt Buller Resort Management are stoked with the response to the new trail: nearly one thousand riders hit the trail between 26th Dec 11 and the 2nd Jan 12! When you consider that most riders using the trails at Buller are not locals, this is a pretty massive response.

The Delatite River trail is also proving popular, with the shuttle service back up to the resort running flat out to keep up with demand. World Trail spent the last two weeks before Christmas buffing and resurfacing the bridge crossings to make the trail more suitable for all abilities.

Merry Christmas Lysterfield
Dec 19 2011

Having done such a stellar job to repair the tired old Comm Games track, the World Trail crew were recently asked back to give some TLC to some of the other trails at Lysterfield, in particular, Hug and Blair Witch trails.

Three sections were earmarked for a full realignment and closure of the old, degraded and eroded sections.

Works are due to be finished before Christmas.

Copperhead Officially Open
Dec 05 2011

If you’ve been bitten by Stonefly then you already know what it means to ride a truly iconic alpine trail and which is why you should be packing the bike into the car and heading to Mt Buller to sample World Trail’s latest masterpiece, Copperhead. Copperhead is the biggest mountain biking news in Australia this summer, and with the Alpine environment being the ideal place to be when the weather warms up, now’s the time to get to Buller for some sweet turns.

Copperhead was launched on the 3rd of December to massive acclaim and has already been the feature of many youtube clips and blogspot rants. For an insight on what it looks like to ride, check out the clip on our facebook page here of World Trail’s lead trail builders and gun downhillers, Rhys Atkinson (camera) and Ryan De La Rue (rider).

Marketed as the latest (and greatest!) ‘Flo-Trak", Copperhead snakes its way down the mountain with a dynamic fluidity that will have you coming back for more long after you lack the strength to keep the pedals spinning. Designed to appeal to both downhillers and cross-country riders, this trail is easy enough for novice riders to roll down, but provides a good option for advanced riders looking for a warm up before hitting Buller’s bone crunching downhill trails. Chairlift access back to the top is available during the official summer season.

Copperhead was named after the Alpine Copperhead snake that lives in the Victorian high country. Well adapted to the alpine environment, they are the first reptile out looking for a feed after winter. What do they eat? Mountain bikers mostly…
